Bank of China has officially begunits branch in Cambodia onSaturday, and its Phnom Penh Branch is the first lender from China in thecountry and is the Kingdom’s 30th commercial bank.
“The bank will provide advantagesand positive inputs to Cambodia to boost its banking industry and economicgrowth,” Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Keat Chhon said during thelaunching ceremony, which was attended by about 200 bankers, local and Chinesebusinesspeople in Cambodia.

“With the presence of the bank, itwould bring new technology and innovative banking products to develop Cambodianbanking industry,” he said. He said that by the end of 2010, the customers'deposits in the banking sector grew by 26 percent to 4.16 billion U.S. dollars,while the customer credits increased by 26.7 percent to 3.18 billion U.S.dollars.
The country has the population of14.3 million, of which, 1.35 million people have used banking system, he added.“We would help support large Chinese firms doing business in Cambodia,especially those in infrastructure projects, hydropower dams, agriculture, andspecial economic zones,” he said. “It is in line with the policy of China in helping to develop Cambodia'seconomy.” He said that as thebank's loan targets are mainly on huge projects, so he believes that the bank'spresence here will not affect existing local banks and the bank is lookingforward to cooperating with all of them.

One in three women prefersspending time with girlfriends than their husbands. They can get glammed up, enjoy a good meal and gossip tillthe cows come home. No wonder one in three married women have more fun withfriends than their husbands. Researchers who interviewed 3,000 women found thatmany would rather spend the day with a friend than be with their other half.Six out of ten said they prefer to go shopping with their girlfriends ratherthan their partner because they offer better, more trustworthy advice.
The survey found that when meetingfemale friends the women made more of an effort with their outfit and spentlonger doing their hair and make-up. And a day out with friends was also likelyto cost more money than with their husbands, with women admitting that theirfriends encourage them to treat themselves more.
The survey was carried out at theLakeside Shopping Centre in Essex. Lakesidespokesman Sophie Scott said: ‘These results will strike a chord with millionsof married women all over the UK.After a busy week at work, we all crave escapism and some “me time”, and it isclear women prefer to spend theirs with girlfriends than partners. Spendingtime with girlfriends and hitting the shops, or stopping for a coffee and achat, can lift a woman’s mood.’

Also, it helps people to have a higherposition at work. In addition, speaking and understanding English can let anindividual more easily communicate with others and find more job opportunitiesnot only in his or her home but around the world as well. What’s more, Englishis the main language of books, newspapers, reports and other professionalpapers, so a good mastery of English will broaden our horizon and gives us anopportunity to know the outside world.
