1．“信”与国际上的比较通行的翻译标准，如苏联人费道罗夫于约50年前提出的“等值”理论可以对应起来。尽管它难以达到，然而考虑到“取法乎上，得乎其中”，欲求翻译精益求精，它又是相当理想的，应该将其肯定下来，作为继续使用的翻译标准。现在，在肯定“信”字或“似”字的同时，应该把精力转向寻求具有突破性的翻译理论和译评方法。
2．我国的古代译学之所以能在唐朝登峰造极，是因为当时整个的文化界都很发达，并引进了外来文化。但在近几百年，西方文化崛起，中国却因为长期闭关自守和其他各种历史惰力，形成了思想文化的一滩死水。但近年来，译学研究之所以有所突破，主要是得助于我国改革开放后的大好形势。因此，译学发展与社会紧密相关，社会兴，则译学兴；社会衰，则译学衰。
3．费道罗夫的“等值翻译”理论，而今已有人利用国际上语言学的新成果，进行了探讨，提出了较为客观的翻译批评方法和较为实际的翻译实践方法。从20世纪和21世纪之交开始，随着年轻学者黄忠廉的《翻译变体研究》和《变理理论》等书的出版，使中国对于翻译标准等翻译理论的研究有了突破性进展。
