and

后面一句的顺序结构就是the time （we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something more affordable, if less flashy）was many.

（）里面为后置定语从句we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something （more affordable, if less flashy）
（）里面为对代词something的后置定语

这样照着书上的中文应该能理解了吧O(∩_∩)O哈哈~

这里many 应该指的是the siren call of merchandising，the time是指后面的，应该这么理解吧.......

many was the time we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something more affordable, if less flashy
趴趴说的对，是倒装
the time we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something more affordable, if less flashy was many
这里we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something more affordable修饰the time
省略了when
整句应该是many was the time when we came to logger-heads over designer sneakers versus something more affordable, if less flashy
这也就是说the time 不是次数的意思，是“时机, 做某种活动的时候”的意思哦，所以是单数，不用times哦
说吵架的时候还是挺多的，而不是说吵架的时候们还挺多的

而且，“many was the time”是一个固定用法哦，说的是XXXXX的时候还挺多的
