【要点注释】本句making the point 是现在分词短语作定语修饰pieces。主句中表语one of a number of pieces后面修饰的成分比较长，信息量大。在翻译时可以采用分译法。 【难句精译】现在我们的失业率为何居高不下、中产阶级收入为何下降，其实原因很大程度在于经济大萧条引起的需求急剧下降，但是这其中也有全球化和信息科技革命巨大进步的推动：机器或者外国工人取代劳力的速度空前。最近有大量文章都在讨论这些，戴维森的文章只是其中一篇而已。 本句来源于考研英语（二）2013年真题，Section Ⅱ Reading Comprehension Part A text1 第二段；考研英语二真题超细解【考研1号】《考研圣经》Page 218.
