考研英语长难句练习：

        【典型难句】After bills, Tony has ￡60 a week to spend, ￡40 of which goes on food, but 10 years ago he was earning ￡130,000 a year working in corporate communications and eating at London’s best restaurants at least twice a week.

        【结构图解】

        【要点注释】这个句子的难点在于三个分词earning，working，eating的关系，因为working的前面并没有逗号，说明三者并非并列关系，并且从意思可以判断working in corporate communications是earning的方式，所以earning 与eating并列。

        【难句精译】付过各种账单后，托尼每周只能剩下60英镑，其中40英镑都被用来买食物。但在十年前，他曾在一家通讯公司工作，年薪达13万英镑，每周至少两次去英国最顶级的餐厅就餐。

        【经典范文】

        The chart shows us that auto sales tend to be on the increase in a year from April 2012 to March 2013. Car sales plunge in February 2013, however, in March, there is a big jump with year-on-year growth of about 10% and month-on-month growth of approximately 50%.  

        Several factors account for the rapid increase of auto sales, but the following three are more illuminating. One crucial factor is that cars have become one of the daily necessities for people. With the expansion of cities, many people live far away from their workplaces; hence it is inconvenient for them to take the bus to work, which makes cars an indispensable part in their lives. Another important factor is that, with the improvement of people’s living standards, an increasing number of Chinese families can afford a car. Still one more reason is people’s prevailing vanity. They regard possessing an upscale car as a prestigious thing.

        The increase of car sales will stimulate China’s economic devel-opment. However, many problems may occur, such as energy, environment and transportation problems. Streets become more congested, a parking lot is difficult to find in downtown area, and the environment has been heavily polluted. On the one hand, we should take effective measures to make cars our beneficial tools instead of our worries. On the other hand, we should not follow suit mindlessly; instead, we can think calmly whenever and whatever we do.

        上图显示，从2012年4月到2013年3月，汽车销售量总体呈上升趋势。尽管2013年2月汽车销售量骤降，然而3月份销售同比增长了大约10%，环比大约增长了50%。

        汽车销量快速增长的原因是多方面的，但以下三方面原因更能说明问题。其中一个重要原因是汽车已成为人们的生活必需品之一。随着城市的扩张，人们的居住地远离工作地，因此对他们来说，乘公交车上班很不方便，这使得汽车成为他们生活中必不可少的一部分。另外一个重要原因是随着人们生活水平的提高，越来越多的中国家庭买得起车。还有一个原因是人们普遍存在的虚荣心。他们认为拥有一辆高档车是一件很有面子的事。

　　汽车销售量的增长，可刺激中国经济的发展。同时也会引发一些问题，如能源，环境和交通问题等。街道变得拥堵，在市中心很难找到停车位，环境受到严重污染。一方面，我们应该采取有效措施，使汽车变成我们生活中有益的工具而非烦恼。另一方面，无论何时，不管干什么事情，我们都应该冷静思考，不要盲目跟风。

        【高分解析】

       1.Several factors account for…, but the following three are more illuminating. 表示“……的原因是多方面的，但以下三方面原因更能说明问题。”此句是阐释原因时的高频句式，考生可将其作为写作套用句式熟记。

       2.regard…as表示“认为……是”，后面a prestigious thing的意思是“一件很有面子的事”。

       3.The increase of…will stimulate China’s economic development. 意为“……的增长，可刺激中国经济的发展”，其中stimulate表示“刺激，促进”。
