初识研英翻译之技巧篇1


大家好！又到了“冲击翻译，不得不恋”的时间。上期节目多谢各位捧场、积极答题，谢谢各位的信任和支持。

首期节目我们介绍了翻译的标准和步骤，并和多年前的研英题打了个照面，对研英翻译题有了一定的了解。觉得它怎么样？难？抑或太简单而对它征服的欲望和没有爱恋的感觉？无论怎样，仅仅一面之缘，又怎能轻易下结论，与它私定终身呢？今天我们正式开始和研英翻译恋上一爱，慢慢揭开它神秘的面纱，一窥它美丽的微笑。
我们知道英语和汉语是两种完全不同的语言，英译汉不是简单的词义转换，而是一个极其复杂的理解与表达的过程。为了使这一复杂的工作能够顺利进行，我们需要按照步骤和技巧的结合，对症下药地分析翻译。因此在这里，首先介绍实战中认为比较好的“四步定位翻译法”给大家，上期介绍的赵敏老师的翻译口诀实则为它的具体化和个人化。它是新东方考研培训中常用的，成效较大的方法之一.

【四步定位翻译法】 （资料来源：《考研英语：英译汉四步定位翻译法》）

简而言之，即结构分析——句子划分——词义推敲——检查核对

1 结构分析：英语重结构，多长句，多从句，所以结构分析，一是判断划线部分是什么句型，二找出句子的主干，有什么修饰语以及词与词之间是什么关系。

A 句型，方便起见分为：简单句和复合句。判断句子属哪个句型就是看句中有几个谓语动词：如果只有一个位于动词——简单句；有一个以上谓动，有两种可能:a. 是动词并列作谓语，标志是第二个动词或最后一个动词前有并列连词and/or/but；b. 是有从句出现，标志是有从句引导次（有时可能会省略从句引导词）。

B 修饰语，主要指定语，状语和插入语。

2 句子划分：按意群用斜线（/）将一个长句切成好几段。如下句：

Category Ⅱ contains only four items,/and I shall say no more about them/except that ,(since they are under consideration),we shall not let the grass grow under feet,/but attempt, (as early as possible), to arrive at a common understanding/ in the interest of humanity.

分析：这是个典型的多重复和句，据它的意思，将整句切为五段：第一、二段是两个并列的句子，第三段是except that 引导的状语从句，其中since they are under consideration是插入语，我们用括号标出；第四、五段共同构成与第三段shall not let the grass grow under feet并列的位于部分，其中as early as possible 也是插入语，用括号隔开，in the interest of humanity是较为复杂的介词短语作状语修饰整个except that 引导的状语从句，所以单独构成一个翻译单位。

切分原则：以下类型要分开：主干与修饰语，主句与从句，并列成分间，多个修饰语间，多个从句间，很长的主语与谓语部分。

3．词义的推敲：不必看完全篇，但须结合要译句子的上下文的语言环境进行理解推敲。它是四步中最难的，希望大家在做题训恋时多加注意。包括把代词译为名词，把被动变成主动，把变化处理成重复，把抽象化为具体，把省略的东西补充进来，把整个句子试译出来的方面。

A词义推敲的主要依据：a根据常识从多种词义中作出正确选择，b根据词的本义发挥想象力，c根据相关的词进行搭配式处理，d根据文章的中心思想和关键词对词义做出相应调整加工。

B 词义推敲的重点：代词，名词，动词，非谓语动词，变化表达，抽象表达，省略表达，习惯表达

4. 检查核对，重点放在a. 代词翻译是否到位；b. 名词翻译是否正确；c. 动词翻译是否正确；d.修饰语与修饰对象是否能很好地配合；e.从句与主句的逻辑关系是否出错；f.惯用法是否译的符合中文习惯；g.整个译文是否具有完整性；h. 整个句子是否读起来通顺。

2.分析：这是个复合句，主句是a leader of the new school contends，是个主谓结构。主句之外是直接引语：in short是介词短语作状语，修饰整个直接引语；the scientific revolution, as we call it ,was largely the improvement and invention and use of a series of instruments是直接引语的主句，是主系表结构；that expanded the reach of science 是修饰名词improvement…的定语从句，其结构为主谓宾；in innumerable directions是介词短语作状语，修饰动词expanded。
切分：“In short”,/a leader of the new school contends,/“the scientific revolution, (as we call it) ,was largely the improvement and invention and use of a series of instruments /that expanded the reach of science /in innumerable directions.”
